The countdown begins: 53 days

I'm starting to get those moments - the moments when I realize I am actually going to Spain next semester. Last night I went shopping with my mom and sister to get Ali some of her stuff for college next year. And I realized, I'm not even going back to college this semester. My friends will make their home together in our little College East apartment without me, while I live in an extra room in the home of Margarita Cerdieras. In Spain.
Up until recently, I have been more nervous than excited. But I'm finally starting to shift to being more excited than nervous. I mean, I would say I am an independent college student. I drive myself to Holland, MI and move myself in and out of school without a problem. What's the difference with Spain, right? I hope my attitude keeps moving in the positive direction as I continue to prepare for the semester. I have my passport, visa, and living arrangements. I'm really going.
I bought a new Canon Rebel xs and have been fooling around with it (mostly taking a bagillion pictures of my sister and pets) to get ready to document my semester abroad. I will share my journeys and experiences with my friends and family through this blog, which I plan to update on a fairly regular basis. Miss Jackie set pretty high standards on that one. Lets hope I can rise to the challenge ;)
Now I guess I should get busy at work to earn the money I'm going to want to spend all over Europe.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6

My mom has encouraged me with this verse for the past 20 years - why not use it as the basis for one of the greatest adventures of my young life?
