Long time, no post. And this is about to be the shortest blog post ever... okay maybe not the shortest but certainly my shortest.
Here are 3 quick life updates:
1. I started private classes! After four months of half-hearted looking (let's be honest, I was enjoying my free time...), I had a job literally fall into my lap. In a period of 36 hours, Clara messaged me about the opportunity, I e-mailed one of the guys, I met with them, and I had my first class! I am tutoring 3 Saudi Arabian guys who are enrolled at St. Louis University at Madrid's campus. I'm helping them with study skills (how to write thesis statements, how to pick out important points in heavily-worded power point presentations in a foreign language) and their overall English in their classes (philosophy, theology, public speaking, and English language). Not too shabby.
2. I reserved a rental car! Not because I crashed one (this time) ;) Details to come.
3. I am going to Paris! I am leaving my apartment in about 5 minutes...
But before I go, a precious story from today:
In the hallway, between classes
Student: (nervously) Miss Rogers... you know how I love Justin Bieber, right?
Amber: Yes...
Student: Well I'm going to meet him in Februrary.
Amber: (mustering up as much enthusiasm as I can) Oh, wow...
Student: And I want to write him a letter. But I don't want to make mistakes, ya know?
Amber: Okay, so do you want me to look at it?
Student: (massive smile spreads across face) That would be great!
Amber: Sounds good. Bring it to class.
Student skips away joyfully. Amber can't stop laughing as she considers the love letter from a 12 year old Spanish girl that she will soon get to read.
